She was a little girl
And she ran around with her best friend Sue
They would play all day
Never running out of things to do
But when they moved away
It was a different kind of day
Yes when they move away
She didn't have her best friend to play

Well the school days seemed so long
She learned another song in her music class
She just about felt like glass
Because she missed her friend
So she wrote a song
She missed her friend
So she wrote a song...
Called MY FRIEND

It went something like this
It was a simply song
It just said "that I miss you
I wish we could sing along together again"
And that was all it said, but it said enough
Then she went to bed

Well the weekends were so hard
She always went to the park
With her best friend
Yes the weekends were so hard
The weekend were the hardest part of losing a friend...

Well years passed, must of been six years or so
She moved to another school, and what do you know
She saw her best friend Sue
And her feelings grew like they use to
I said her feelings grew, she just knew...

When she sang her song to her friend Sue
She got a smile that you would be so proud...
With these best friends
Now they're holding hands
Pickin' flowers by the bay
Holding hands
Smiling all the way... through life
